How verification works

What each badge means, who can assign it, and what to do when something is wrong.

How businesses get listed

Every listing arrives one of two ways: an owner submits it, or our team adds it. Either way a person reviews it before it is published. Nothing goes live automatically, and a submission sits in a pending queue until it is approved or rejected with a reason.

How claiming works

Ownership is never granted automatically. A claim asks for your name, role, and something we can check — an email on the business domain, a phone number matching the listing, or similar. We verify before handing over control. A listing already claimed by someone else cannot be claimed again without contacting us.

How recommendations are decided

Editor’s picks are chosen by our team on editorial judgement. They are not bought and they are not voted on. We say this plainly because a recommendation nobody can explain is worth nothing.

How search ranking works

Results are ranked on how well a listing matches what you typed, then adjusted by location relevance, verification, how complete the profile is, and featured status. Featured status is a capped bonus, so a highlighted listing can rise among genuine matches but cannot displace them in an unrelated search.

How to report incorrect information

Every listing has a report incorrect information link. Wrong phone numbers, moved addresses and closed businesses are the most useful things to tell us, and the quickest for us to fix. You do not need an account, and we do not publish who reported a listing.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell placement in search results.
  • We do not take a commission on work booked through a listing.
  • We do not vouch for the quality of anyone’s work. A badge means we checked a specific fact, nothing more.
  • We do not publish reviews or ratings yet. When we do, we will explain how they are moderated before turning them on.
